Ever had a Supercalifragilistic experience? That’s what we do at TRC. Last week Penny Spoelder visited Maryborough, Queensland and had just that. While examining the tourism investment opportunities for Fraser Coast Regional Council (Hervey Bay, Maryborough and the rest of this spectacular region), she caught a glimpse of Mary at Maryborough.
One of Queensland’s oldest cities settled as a wool port and served as the Fraser Coast immigration port in the early days of Australian settlement. Maryborough was also the birthplace of Pamela Travers (1899 – 1996), author of Mary Poppins. The city is a little gem. This destination has the quirky and quintessential – even the pedestrian lights bring a smile to every visitors dial. Military, Mural and Mary trails that bring this town’s rich and fascinating story together wrapped in a “spoonful of sugar” for its visitors.
