Project Description
The State Party of Vietnam had requested that the International Union for Conservation of Nature provide advice on improving the management of the Ha Long Bay World Heritage property, with particular attention to waste and visitor management. Janet Mackay, Director of TRC Tourism, was one of two experts identified and selected to undertake this advisory mission.
The mission made recommendations addressing the issues of waste management and environmental protection, visitor management, the integrity of the buffer zone and strengthening the Board’s authority.
