Project Description
TRC was engaged by the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) to review the current co-management framework for national parks and conservation reserves in South Australia. This preliminary internal review identified the strengths and achievements of the framework, the challenges, key learnings and potential areas for improvement. It also examined the extent to which the framework serves the outcomes articulated by Government at the time the legislation was amended in 2004.
TRC concluded that DEW’s investment in co-management has resulted in benefits that are multi-dimensional and often intangible. Taken together, the findings and recommendations of the review presented an opportunity for what is already a successful program to evolve into an even more effective one.
