Project Description
TRC Tourism was engaged by South Pacific Tourism Organisation to prepare Sustainable Tourism Guidelines for the fifteen member nations of the SPTO. The sustainable tourism guidelines aim to support the SPTO in launching and implementing the Pacific Sustainable Tourism Standard, focusing on informing stakeholders, providing clear guidance, and promoting the Standard across the Pacific region. It seeks to establish the Standard as a benchmark for sustainable tourism practices, encouraging member nations to adopt it in their tourism strategies and policies. The strategy also intends to enhance the SPTO’s leadership role in sustainable tourism, foster strategic partnerships, and facilitate educational initiatives. Additionally, it focuses on engaging diverse stakeholders for investment in related areas and sharing knowledge to build a Community of Practice for Sustainable Tourism in the Pacific.
