Project Description

TRC and Brave and Curious were engaged by the Department for Environment and Water to plan and design innovative visitor experiences at nine geological and paleolithic sites considered outstanding at a global scale within the Arkaroola Protection Area in South Australia’s remote Northern Flinders Ranges.

This concept planning project, aligned to the South Australian Government’s proposal for World Heritage listing, provided innovative solutions to guide the access, presentation and interpretation for some of the most important evolution of animal life on Earth sites on Earth. The planning team provided a range of exciting access and sustainable experiences across the range of sites to suit the visitors individual needs and abilities whilst protecting the landscapes and environmental values they have come to see.

The TRC and Brave and Curious Team designed a range of walking experiences that linked five of the nine Element geological sites whilst the welcome areas, interpretation and trail heads incorporated universal access so that people with a range of abilities – including wheelchairs – would be able to experience these remarkable sites.
