Project Description
Ayal Aboriginal Tours Kakadu aims to enhance visitor introduction to Kakadu National Park through the Marangarrayu Experience at the West Alligator River (Welcome Bay). This initiative, built on Traditional Owner Victor Cooper’s vision, is designed to foster cultural, social, and economic well-being by creating a sustainable business pathway for local Aboriginal communities. The project includes developing a welcoming meeting place that provides visitors with authentic cultural experiences and connections to Kakadu’s rich heritage.
The Concept Plan, Feasibility Study, and Business Case outline various stages of development, including the creation of a pop-up café, guided walks, a group camp, and long-term retreat accommodations. The project also focuses on environmental sustainability, cultural respect, economic empowerment, and educational opportunities. The Marangarrayu Experience aligns with the NT’s Aboriginal Tourism Strategy and aims to fill gaps in current visitor offerings while contributing to regional economic growth and job creation.
