Project Description
This Economic Benefit Assessment Was Prepared by TRC Tourism and MCa Consultants for the Victorian Goldfields Tourism Executive (VGTE). The report quantifies the range of benefits that World Heritage inscription will bring to the Central Victorian Goldfield’s communities and the regional and state economies. It provides an indicative assessment of the economic and employment benefits resulting from increased tourism. This economic analysis provides the lobbying and advocacy advantages for VGTE.
The Central Victorian Goldfields region encompasses the world’s largest and most intact nineteenth-century gold rush landscape. World Heritage inscription wouldl result in significant benefits including the creative development and investment in heritage assets and tourism services (such as accommodation, cafes and restaurants) which would increase tourism and associated visitor spend. For residents it would mean improved liveability, population growth and regional revitalisation
