Project Description
The Cook Islands Ridge to Reef project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme and funded by the UNDP Global Environment Facility in partnership with the Cook Islands Government.
The project aims to build national and local capacities to ensure effective conservation of biodiversity, food security and livelihoods and the enhancement of ecosystem functions within Marae Moana, a multiple-use marine park which extends over the entire Exclusive Economic Zone of the Cook Islands.
TRC was engaged to provide a report which would assess the indicators and the extent to which targets had been achieved relating to:
• the establishment of environmental guidelines and a national tourism accreditation system; and
• tourism industry contribution and support for biodiversity conservation projects.
