Project Description

TRC was engaged by the Rotary Club of Kinglake Ranges (in association with partner organisations) to review an early draft concept for the creation of a new walking trail aligned east to west along the Kinglake escarpment, from the outskirts of Kinglake near Cookston Hill to Mt Sugarloaf lookout in the west.

This report considered the initial concept as presented by Rotary Club of Kinglake Ranges and assessed the feasibility from an early-stage perspective. TRC highlighted the potential benefits of the trail, the user market/s, opportunities for the development of a unique nature-based experience and how an appropriate design may be applied, approximate costs and corridor mapping. TRC also provided a general strategic pathway toward realisation of the Kinglake Walking Trail, which was categorised by this study as a project with a high degree of merit worth pursuing.
