Project Description

TRC was engaged to provide a strategic framework for a collaborative approach to tourism in this region shared by two neighbouring councils. Capitalising on Hutt Valley’s major strengths, the Action Plan sets out to attract day and short break visitors, particularly from Wellington. It provides strategies and actions for collaborative and consistent delivery of visitor experiences, services, infrastructure and marketing between the different tourism partners in the Hutt Valley.
The Plan includes recommendations and implementation advice by TRC surrounding shared messaging and promotion, development of individual visitor experiences, development of shared visitor experiences, expansion of visitation and visitor spending and increasing the value of the visitor economy. TRC also set out ways in which the two councils could work together, and with other partners, to manage the Hutt Valley as a unified destination.
