Project Description
TRC was recently engaged to prepare recommendations for the future direction of The Woolshed at Jondaryan, near Toowoomba. The site is council owned and had four distinct parts –including a museum, the woolshed itself, a caravan park and village – providing opportunities for the Woolshed to provide facilities and experiences for the local community, as well as visitors to the region. As part of this project, TRC conducted extensive community consultation, a review of opportunities and constraints, visitation and accommodation analysis, a regional economic impact assessment and an assessment of potential management options. The team also prepared case studies to explore different governance and management arrangements in other successful destinations. Council have placed TRC’s report on public exhibition and are progressing work towards the new operating model.
