Project Description

Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp is a 100% Aboriginal owned and operated business situated on the Murumburr Homelands within Kakadu National Park. The business has successfully been attracting visitors on a local scale since 2014, offering a broad range of tailored experiences including safari camping/glamping at the family’s outstation, art workshops and sales, guided tours, festivals and special events. TRC supported the development of a Business Plan in 2023 to support the business’ vision of becoming a primary tourist attraction in the Northern Territory, providing authentic Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences and deriving economic and social benefits for Mayali/Kundjeihmi people.

Through Tourism NT Aboriginal Tourism Grant funding, TRC was further contracted to work with Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp to develop a Trade Distribution Strategy, implementing some of the Business Plan’s actions, further generating business growth, supporting product development and market readiness.
