Project Description
TRC Tourism recently worked with the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council (off Townsville in Northern Queensland) to develop a Tourism Master Plan. The plan was developed in consultation with many community members and groups. The aim was to identify tourism opportunities that can support economic and social growth for the community. The team worked with various community members, stakeholders, the Council and rangers to identify new experiences that could be delivered in the short and long term including new partnerships. Development of walking experiences, accommodation and re-introducing cultural events and open days as well as working with other local operators were seen as priorities.
