Project Description
Somerset Regional Council wanted to better understand and activate the potential of Mount Glen Rock as a multi-use recreational facility. The Council had purchased 127 hectares of the western face of Mount Glen Rock with the belief that the site possessed suitability for the development of hiking and mountain bike trails, as well as rock climbing and abseiling.
This preliminary assessment by TRC considered the value of investing in the site to enable these activities, as well as informing consideration of purchasing or creating agreements to utilise adjacent land. Potential economic and social benefits were outlined, along with any constraints and limitations. TRC also provided marketing and investment attraction recommendations. The assessment will guide the Council’s approach to further investment into the site either directly, or through seeking grant funding through government, while also attracting investment from commercial operators.
