Project Description
TRC was engaged to develop a Trails Plan for the 15-hectare Foresters Forest located within the South Australian State Sports Park. This project was a joint initiative between the Office of Recreation Sport and Racing and Green Adelaide, in conjunction with Foresters Forest Management Committee and the City of Port Adelaide and Enfield.
For this plan, TRC reviewed existing use of the broader site to identify future trail opportunities and experiences. The plan provided options to develop sustainable and enjoyable trail concepts that link the planted woodlands to the State Sports Park Precinct and the broader community.
Proposed and existing trail facilities were assessed to recommend potential trail alignments based on topographic details and user needs. An assessment of the site was performed to plot sustainable trail corridors using clinometer and GPS and to identify additional trail infrastructure required such as low-level crossings over drainage lines. The final Trails Plan developed by TRC Tourism mapped trail routes, identified recommended trail types and specifications, and provided the indicative costs.
