Project Description

Tairāwhiti Gisborne already had a track record of delivering a number of successful events which were already aligned with the qualities that make the region a special place to live and visit.
TRC Tourism was engaged on this project to develop an Events Strategy which would provide clear direction for event attraction and delivery in the region. The recommendations made in the Strategy by TRC Tourism will reduce ad-hoc decision-making, enable and align the private and public sectors, reduce competition between events within the region and in bid preparation, facilitate cooperation and the pooling of resources, make better use of available infrastructure and assets (including natural assets), and improve standards.
Business Events including conferences, incentive groups, business meetings, retreats and team building.were addressed in a separate strategy, also developed by TRC Tourism.
