Alistair is an experienced tourism professional with specialist knowledge in planning for protected area and natural and cultural heritage sites.
His consulting advice is underpinned by 35 years’ experience in the development, operation and management of significant tourism infrastructure and adaptive reuse of major historic sites, including World Heritage sites. His extensive protected-area management background is complemented by qualifications in Architecture and Planning.
Alistair has provided consultancy for the provision of visitor services and facilities in natural and heritage settings throughout Australia and in New Zealand, the Pacific and South East Asia. This includes working in multidisciplinary teams on complex projects, such as hospitality and accommodation developments, for community, business and Government clients. Alistair has worked for Aboriginal Corporations to assist them in identifying business and employment opportunities through cultural tourism initiatives.
He has expertise in identifying new visitor opportunities and improving existing destinations, helping increase revenue and achieve operational efficiencies. He is an effective communicator, with extensive experience in working with local communities to help them achieve their goals.
Alistair is an Expert member of the ACT Heritage Council and a Trustee of the Ginninderry Conservation Trust.
Alistair has worked with communities to make improvements to enhance the liveability of their towns and make them more attractive for visitors, while increasing revenue and achieving operational efficiencies.
