Niue Oceans Wide sponsored a workshop to look at higher standards that might be expected of marine tourism operators as part of actions resulting from the overarching Niue Responsible Tourism Plan. Standards of marine tourism operators needed considerable extra work, as did the determination of the appropriate standards for higher levels of accreditation. The incentives that would be offered to encourage operators to attain higher levels of accreditation were also yet to be determined.
TRC was asked to prepare for, and facilitate, the workshop. Outcomes from the workshop then enabled TRC to prepare and deliver recommendations for updated Marine Tourism Certification Standards for Niue.
