Project Description
In Round Five of the Building Better Regions Fund $200 million was made available for grant funding, with $100 million of this dedicated to tourism-related infrastructure projects. The objectives of the program were to drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future.
TRC Tourism assisted Indigo Shire Council with their grant funding application for the Rutherglen Wine Walk Cycle Trail concept, a 48 kilometres network of multi-use trails that builds on the positioning of Victoria’s High Country as a ride centre of national significance and capitalises on the unique features of Rutherglen and Wahgunyah by linking Rutherglen’s town centre to Lake Moodemere, the Murray River, multiple winery cellar doors, food producers, cafes and restaurants.
Among other criteria, the application needed to demonstrate the impact the COVID-19 pandemic on the region’s tourism industry and how the project would provide benefits to the tourism industry to assist in mitigating the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.
