Project Description
The Governance and Business Models for Recreational Trails report to Yarra Ranges Council examined a range of options for the governance of existing and future trails in the Yarra Ranges region, to determine the optimum model for management of the trails. The Council was seeking to develop the region into a world-class trails destination and TRC advised the Council on the feasibility of the trails, the impact assessment and prioritisation of the trail developments, in addition to the governance models.
Implementing a clear, accountable and simple model where State and Local Government, business, the community and users could work together to deliver a world class trails destination was vital to success, and the TRC report provided the way forward for the Council. Following a considered options analysis, the recommended model used the Incorporated Association model to bring partners together, provide a clear consititution, share risk and financial rewards and employ people as required to deliver the plans. Implementation of the model is underway.
