Ned’s Corner Station is a 40,000ha property tucked away in the far northwest corner of Victoria, framed by the Murray River, national parks and the NSW and SA borders. The property is under the guardianship of Trust for Nature who are working with the Ngintait Traditional Owners and the First People of the Millewa-Mallee Corporation, who represent both Ngintait and Latji Latji. Together, they are on a journey towards cultural and environmental healing, reinstating traditional custodianship and the vision of becoming an Indigenous Protected Area.
Part of the journey includes considering the potential for tourism on Country. TRC consultants Alistair Henchman and Tracey Diddams in partnership with Troppo Architects walked (and drove!) across Country with First People of the Millewa-Mallee and the Trust for Nature team. Together we learnt about the exceptional bio-cultural values, stories and visions for Ned’s Corner.
As we continue working together, our job is now to co-design tourism solutions that create balance. A place for healing Country and Culture, education and inspiration, and instilling pride in young people and the broader community.
