TRC is working on a feasibility study for the trail Coastal Pacific Trail in the Marlborough and North Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. The trail is proposed to link Picton and Kaikoura, accessing the wineries of the Marlborough district and taking in the magnificent coastline between Ward and Kaikoura. The TRC team, in conjunction with Xyst’s Paul Wilson is providing advice on the accuracy of projections of use and revenue from preliminary studies on the project, and recommendations on trail alignment and future governance arrangements for the trail.

Confirmation that funding has been announced for the southern end of the Coastal Pacific Trail in the Marlborough and North Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand has been met with great enthusiasm from the local community. The development of the first section of the track between Kaikoura and Clarence is being funded as part of works associated with the SH1 earthquake restoration.
