TRC has been contracted to complete a feasibility study on walking, cycling and equestrian trails in the Gore District in Southland, New Zealand. The study will identify feasible projects for inclusion in future works programs aimed at improving walking, cycling and horse riding infrastructure and opportunities in the local Gore District. TRC Director Janet Mackay spent this week in and around Gore, to review the current situation, identify opportunities for new trails and provide advice on maximising those opportunities to provide direct health, safety and economic benefits to the community.

The feasibility study is part of a range of regional Trails initiatives, including the Southland Cycling Strategy, which was also recently completed by TRC.
