TRC has been engaged to help bring to fruition an exciting opportunity for the Hawkesbury electorate of NSW. As part of a NSW election commitment, the region has secured $3 million for the development and implementation of a tourism strategy. TRC is working on a Tourism Development Action Plan that will grow the region’s visitor economy. We are also updating the DMP’s audit of tourism products and experiences, and assisting the region to increase listings on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse.

TRC’s Emma Knezevic and Anna Baelz-Stead travelled to the region last week to visit the different visitor precincts, experiences and opportunities. In addition to the Hawkesbury River and its house-boating experiences, there is an active Harvest Trail initiative, Colonial-era heritage sites, World Heritage national parks and Convict Site the Old Great North Road. The development plan will look to build on these strengths.
