TRC Tourism’s Sustainable Trail Conference for 2024 is only weeks away! The program is now in the final draft stage, as we bring together leading experts in the business of recreation and tourism trails. Take a chance to meet some of our notable speakers below, before you meet us in Cromwell!
Introducing Chris Hay, the founder and Director at Locales, a place-based storytelling and design agency in Wellington, New Zealand. Chris has developed award winning public history experiences and works across New Zealand and Australia to re-imagine parks, trails and public spaces through the lens of storytelling and public engagement. Chris will present the Storymapp system using Gabriel’s Gully, a historic gold-mining community and the site of New Zealand’s first gold-rush, where Locales developed a StorymappÒ in conjunction with Clutha Development and the Tuapeka Goldfields musuem. StorymappÒ is a creative new way to deliver visitor experiences in parks, trails and urban environments. It provides revenue opportunities through the map, the digital guide and the trailhead kiosk that create sustainable, re-generative tourism outcomes.
