The Central Victorian Goldfields is one step closer to being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in recognition of its outstanding global heritage significance.

Congratulations to the Susan Fayad from City of Ballarat and the World Heritage project team for recently finalising the 2021 Central Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Bid Prospectus. The prospectus details how the vision will be achieved and consists of four documents: The transformative power of UNESCO World Heritage listing, A pathway to regional regeneration, Investing in a sustainable tourism model and a Roadmap.

TRC Tourism worked with 13 Local Governments in the Goldfields region and partners WolfPeak and Planet Happiness to develop the Sustainable Tourism and Value Creation Toolkit as a supporting element for the Central Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Bid. The Toolkit will assist in leveraging both the journey to inscribe the Central Victorian Goldfields on the World Heritage List and be a catalyst for mobilising and building the region’s visitor economy capacity and offerings, as well as strengthening its resilience, adaptability and recovery especially in a COVID-19 response environment.
