The conference will focus on sustainable walking and cycling trails and will examine emerging trends for trails, measuring the benefits of trails to local economies, and sustainable planning and management of trails.
Keynote speaker Kaye Parker will share her experience in setting up the now iconic Queenstown trail, which is now the most used trail in New Zealand. Peter Mooney, who is a former General Manager of the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service and was instrumental in establishing the Three Capes Track multi day walk, will speak on the contribution trails bring to a destination. Sustainable models of governance and funding will also be on the agenda as well as a number of field trips which will allow delegates to get out into the national park to experience some of what Thredbo and surrounds has to offer, while participating in a master class on mountain bike planning and management.
