Fantastic news! The Victorian Goldfields have officially received the green light to pursue World Heritage Listing! After 35 years of passionate advocacy, this is a game-changing moment for the region. The Goldfields have now been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, marking a key milestone toward global recognition of its extraordinary significance. From the First Peoples to the gold rush and waves of immigration, the Goldfields’ rich history is now one step closer to being preserved and celebrated for future generations. Congratulations!

In 2021, TRC Tourism collaborated with 13 local governments in the Goldfields region, along with partners WolfPeak and Planet Happiness, to develop the Sustainable Tourism and Value Creation Toolkit. Later, in 2022, TRC Tourism and MCa Consultants prepared an Economic Benefit Assessment, both of which served as key supporting elements for the Central Victorian Goldfields’ World Heritage bid.
Additionally, in 2023/2024, TRC Tourism prepared the Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Master Plan alongside the ARUP team, further contributing to the development of the region’s World Heritage journey.
