Job Title: Consultant – Recreational Trails
Location: Remote (Anywhere in Australia)

We work extensively on all aspects of strategic trail planning including trail master plans, mountain bike strategies, multi-day walk product development, feasibility studies and business cases, integrated regional trails strategies, cycleway planning, rail trails, drive trails, and assessments of the economic benefits of trail development.

Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Consultant specialising in recreational trails to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work remotely from anywhere in Australia and will be responsible for:
• Developing comprehensive trail master plans and strategies
• Conducting feasibility studies and economic assessments for trail development
• Engaging with stakeholders and community members to facilitate relationships
• Providing advice on trail governance, investment models, and sustainable maintenance
• Collaborating with various departments to ensure the successful implementation of trail projects.

Key Responsibilities:
• Development of trails strategies, master plans and feasibility studies
• Conduct audits of existing trails networks
• Analyse of trail visitor needs and demand
• Formulate business cases for trail proposals, including economic assessments
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and community consultations
• Provide ongoing management advice for existing trails.

Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of:
   – strategic planning process for trail development from concept to master plans
   – sustainability, environmental, social, education, and economic aspects of trail development
• Proven experience in recreational trail planning and development
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in planning, environmental science, or a related field – desirable but not essential
• Advanced report writing skills
• Ability to travel
• Expertise in environmental planning would be favourably looked at
• Consultants who are able to work from either of our offices which are located in Jindabyne NSW or Alice Springs NT should identify this in their application
