TRC’s Emma Knezevic was in Wellington last weekend for the Wellington Caves Community Open Day, where locals were invited to participate in free tours and to view and discuss the Draft Masterplan prepared by TRC Tourism and Newscape Design. The Open Day was extremely popular with all tours booking out and lots of people taking the time to look at the Masterplan concepts and possible site improvements. The amount of interest in the Wellington Caves, excitement over the recently funded Visitor Experience Centre and budget group accommodation, and support for development of themed play spaces and cave-themed glamping was very encouraging.
