Kylie Ruwhiu-Karawana, a New Zealand based TRC consultant, is spending time in the beautiful Tairāwhiti region this week, working with the tourism team from Trust Tairāwhiti on the development of their Destination Management Plan. Discussions with the community all throughout the rohe (region) have highlighted strong shared aspirations that will help guide the thinking and deliver a plan that will have positive impacts for the community into the future. Tairāwhiti is the first place in the world to see the sun and feel the touch of a new day’s warmth and light. It holds a very special place in the hearts of many in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and has to be experienced to be believed.
